What do I need the energy certificate for?

  • for every new building, extension and renovation according to the Lower Austria building regulations.
  • for your application for housing subsidy for new construction, renovation or heating exchange.
  • for every rental, lease or sale of a property.

Energy performance certificates may only be calculated and issued by authorized and qualified persons. Each energy certificate is valid for ten years from the current date of issue.

What do the energy indicators say?

  • HWB: The heating requirement describes the amount of heat that must be added to the rooms for heating purposes.
  • EEB: In addition to the heating energy requirement, the heating energy requirement, the hot water requirement, the heating technology energy requirement and the household electricity requirement are also taken into account in the final energy requirement. The final energy requirement corresponds to the amount of energy that has to be purchased.
  • fGEE: The total energy efficiency factor is the quotient of the final energy requirement and a reference final energy requirement.

The energy indicators are calculated for the respective site climate and for a reference climate. The reference climate is used to make it easier to compare different buildings
