The European Fuel Quality Directive (FQD) obliges European fuel suppliers to reduce the GHG intensity of their fuel production. To achieve those reduction targets, the companies can make use of emission reduction projects in their upstream activities (before the fuel reaches a refinery). Energy Changes has been developing Upstream Emission Reduction (UER) projects since 2015, and in cooperation with the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) since 2018.
Energy Changes has successfully developed more than 25 UER projects in 6 different host countries which have been approved in various EU Member States. As one of the leading service providers in this field, we were involved in the development of the first projects approved by Austria and Germany.
