UER - Upstream Emission Reduction

The European Fuel Quality Directive (FQD) is putting an obligation on European oil and gas companies to reduce the GHG intensity of their fuel production. To achieve those reduction targets the companies can make use of emission reduction projects in their upstream activities (before the fuel reaches a refinery). Energy Changes is working on the development of such Upstream Emission Reduction (UER) projects since 2015, cooperating with the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) since 2018.

Since then 20 projects in 6 different host countries (project location) have been developed and were successfully approved by the designated authorities of different EU memberstates.

Energy Changes takes a lead role in the UER market, as the very first projects approved by Austria as well as by Germany were both developed by us.
